Market Research Company in Hyderabad: Local Firms, Telugu and Urdu, and What to Ask

We looked for firms whose own websites list a Hyderabad office. Two did as of October 2026, and only one gives a street address:

These are the firms we could verify, and the list is short on purpose. A PureSpectrum-style sample marketplace supplies respondents to researchers; it is a different service from a fieldwork agency that interviews people in Hyderabad. Several directory sites list more Hyderabad firms. We did not name them because their own sites did not show an address we could check.

ESOMAR's directory is one place to look for more names. Treat a listing as a lead, and find a street address on the firm's own site before you shortlist it. Ask, too, whether the firm belongs to the Market Research Society of India.

Sources: Census 2011 UA table, cities table and Table C-16 for the district. The corporation held about 28 lakh more people than Hyderabad district, so it reaches beyond the district into its neighbours. A sample drawn "in Hyderabad district" misses much of the corporation.

Two administrative facts affect old data. Telangana "came into being on the 2nd of June, 2014" (Telangana state portal), so 2011 Census tables file Hyderabad under Andhra Pradesh. The portal now lists 33 districts, while Census tables use 2011 district lines; map one to the other before you set quotas. The Department of Expenditure's 2017 HRA memo classes Hyderabad (UA) as an "X" city, listed under "Andhra Pradesh/Telangana" (DoE memo, July 2017).

Percentages are ours, calculated from Census 2011 Table C-16 for Andhra Pradesh, where each language total gathers several related mother tongues.

The core district is split almost evenly between Telugu and Urdu. In urban Rangareddy, the neighbouring district in 2011, Telugu speakers outnumber Urdu speakers about six to one. So the language mix of your sample depends on where the interviews fall, and an Urdu version is not optional if the core district is in scope.

Urdu is written right to left in a different script from Hindi, so it needs its own translation check and its own screen test on phones. Mother tongue is not always the reading language, and some Urdu speakers may prefer Hindi or English on screen. Offer the choice and let your pilot show the split.

Take an illustrative frame of Hyderabad district plus urban Rangareddy, 76.6 lakh people in 2011, and allocate 400 interviews by population. If respondents matched the Census mother-tongue mix, you would expect:

Figures are rounded so rows add up. Roughly 112 of 400 people would have Urdu as their first language, enough to analyse as a group if they answer in it. If you field only Telugu, Hindi and English, those respondents read in a second language or drop out, and the gap falls mostly on the core district.

Online panels will not match the Census mix exactly. Track completes by language and area as fieldwork runs, and weight to the Census shares if one group falls short.

1. Is your Hyderabad office where the fieldwork is run, or only where the account team sits?
2. Which areas will you sample: the corporation, Hyderabad district, or named neighbouring districts?
3. Who translates and checks the Urdu version, and will you test it on a phone screen before launch?
4. Can respondents switch language mid-survey, and will the data show which version each person used?
5. How will you report completes by language and by area during fieldwork?
6. Which parts of the work go to subcontractors or sample suppliers, and which ones?
7. How will you reach people who do not use smartphones, if they matter to the study?

Ask every shortlisted firm the same seven questions in writing, and compare the answers side by side.

The panel page puts the language count at 8+ without naming them; get written confirmation that Urdu is one before you commit. Geographic targeting runs from pan-India down to a single city, with NCCS and age as further filters (panel methodology). Ask whether district-level targeting is possible for this frame. Hyderabad respondent counts are not published either, so get the eligible number for your quotas first. Only smartphone users take part.
